The George Peabody Library

The Sheridan Libraries at The Johns Hopkins University announce the opening of Eureka!: Rare Books in the History of Scientific Discovery at the George Peabody Library in Baltimore. Spanning more than 2,500 years of scientific breakthroughs and including books that date from the late 15^th century to the mid 20^th century, Eureka! contains highlights from the Dr. Elliott and Eileen Hinkes Collection of Rare Books in the History of Science.

The collection, totaling more than 300 items, provides a kind of roadmap of seminal moments in the history of science and was assembled over two decades by Dr. Elliott Hinkes, an alumnus of the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Hinkes, who died in 2009, maintained a private practice specializing in medical oncology and hematology in the Los Angeles area for more than 30 years and was an associate clinical professor at UCLA.

Eureka! is open to the public from October 24, 2011 through February 29, 2012 at the George Peabody Library, 17 E. Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD 21202. The George Peabody Gallery is open Monday through Friday 9 – 5, Saturdays 9 – 3, and Sundays 12 – 5. Admission is free.

Art Style “L” shaped Runway with Hard Sides

The Baltimore School for the Arts united with the Kennedy Krieger Institute to host “The Art of Giving,” a fashion show featuring the latest fashion line from Ruth Shaw, Inc. on October 4th of 2o11.

Students of the dance and visual arts programs from BSA assisted behind the scenes in order that they learn the logistics of a fashion show. With the aid of many community donations, the show benefits both institutions and encourages charitable and local support for two of Baltimore local schools.

JSI is proud to help in this great Baltimore Area event.

Visually appealing runway with Stage, Flats and Lighting

The inaugural black-tie event’s focus is on influential Washington, DC mothers raising funds for orphans through the United for Kids Foundation (UKF) – a nonprofit committed to fighting poverty and illiteracy through education and social welfare programs in Nigeria. RMFAC is recognized by the Embassy of Nigeria as a prelude to the Nigerian Independence Day celebrations.L~Shandi Presented “Runway Moms for a Cause” hosted by Maureen Umeh of Fox DC!

Participating mothers adorned in one of a kind designs by L-Shandi and guests partook in a silent auction featuring original artwork, sent from Nigeria, by the benefitting orphans depicting their life goals and dreams.

This First Annual event held Friday, September 30, 2011 was presented in the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. JSI and Producer Nenye Njoku Olagbegi founder of Nenye Njoku, LLC  Public Relations and Event Production worked hand in hand to give this event to look it deserves, and we look forward to many such glorious events from RMFAC.

While the show brought out a prestigious crowd, all eyes were focused on the runway as seven menswear designers from as far as Ukraine showcased their take on men’s fashion for the upcoming seasons. The 15^th annual D.C. Fashion Week Menswear collection fashion show as a perfect event for the Black Mirror effect this runway provided.

This effect was also used for the final event produced by D.C. Fashion Week, the International Couture Collection at the French Embassy.

DC Fashion Week is a weeklong event that highlights fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling as well as enhances the visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion.

DC Fashion Week produces runway events twice a year (February/September) at multiple venues throughout Washington, DC. JSI is proud to be a partner in bringing fashion to the Washington and Baltimore region.

JSI supports many choral arts concerts by providing Choral Risers for many different size singing groups. From large to small JSI can provide a setup to suit your needs. JSI did so for the IBB – International Broadcasting Bureau, BBG, in the Wilbur J. Cohen Auditorium at the Voice of America Facility on Independence Avenue in Washington D.C.

Maloof Skateboarding and Events DC, the official convention and sports authority dedicated to attracting premier events to the District, announced a multi-year agreement to host the Maloof Money Cup, presented by Vans, on a world-class skate park built on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds. This skate park, named Maloof Cup Park, hosted the world’s best professional skateboarders at the inaugural Maloof Money Cup D.C. September 3-4.

“We’re excited to bring the Maloof Money Cup to our nation’s capital,” said Joe Maloof, creator of Maloof Money Cup and owner of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. “This location at RFK Stadium was ideal and we thank Vans and Events DC for making it possible for the park to remain as a permanent structure in the community. We invite everyone to come out Labor Day weekend to the first-ever Maloof Money Cup D.C. It’s going to be an incredible contest with the world’s best skaters competing on a brand new course inspired by D.C. skate spots and landmarks.” ( from the Maloof Money Cup website)

Designed by Pro Skater Geoff Rowley and Joe Ciaglia’s team at California Skateparks, the 15,000-square-foot skate park is the first major skate park in Washington, D.C. and is inspired by Freedom Plaza and the architecture up and down Pennsylvania Avenue.

JSI provided large 19 row custom bleachers engineered to fit on a site under construction and worked hand in hand with producers and engineers from Maloof to have enough seating for this inaugural skating event in our nations capital. Along with the custom built bleachers and blockader style barriers, JSI also built a custom 60′ wide by 17′ tall truss style gateway for the entrance to the skate park for the Labor Day competition. During the pre-event construction phase many obstacles were overcome by the ability of our staff to work with our clients to make sure their needs and goals are met.

BCC Fashion Show Stage with custom painted logo

The Baltimore Country Club – BCC a 112 year old, private club, holds its annual BCC Fashion Show during the holiday season at its premier clubhouse in Roland Park. This year the production staff at BCC decided that the annual fashion show deserved a fresh new look. So given this mandate by one of our oldest clients, JSI took the challenge.

This fashion show required JSI to provide custom panels or scene flats bearing the BCC logo. The high style replicated logo requested by BCC gave that final touch to the WOW factor that the country club wanted. The addition of a back lit translucent rear wall was added for dramatic effect. These photos are an example of how JSI can provide customized production services to your high fashion event.

The small space used required the vendor to maximize seating for the event. JSI provided a custom use bleacher seating system that when finished, gave a great presentation proving that bleachers can be finished off to suit just about any occasion. Proving that JSI can customize our products to provide that splash or extra “WOW” to your event.
